First Families of Baylor Award
The First Families of Baylor Award recognizes a multi-generational Baylor family that has shown long-lasting concern and support of Baylor University and its community. Presented annually since 1980, the award honors families who have shown themselves to be outstanding alumni and contributors to Baylor over several generations.
The impressive list of past recipients of the First Families of Baylor Award includes well-known names like Brooks, Allen, Burleson, Speight, Marrs, and McCall. In 1987, the descendants of Samuel Palmer Brooks, an 1893 graduate who served as Baylor's seventh president, received the First Families Award. More recently, in 2007, the First Families Award was presented to the Tidwell family (pictured).
All families that receive this honor are presented with the First Families of Baylor Award during Baylor's After Dark talent show, held during Parents Weekend at Baylor.
