LR0816 Texas in the Civil War

Dr. Michael Parrish, Linden G. Bowers Professor of American History at Baylor, will lead this course and examine the military, social, and political history of Texas during the Civil War. Particular attention will be given to Texas commanders and forces that volunteered for service outside the state, as well as those defending the state. The course will also focus on Texas civilians and their various efforts, including conflict between loyal Confederates, Unionist dissenters, and slaves on the home front.
